Could you tell me if the system "Easy Water" actually works?
Hi Betty
I'm not sure of the science of these no salt water softeners. As a water professional, I was taught of four ways to remove hardness from water:
1. Ion Exchange (Conventional Salt Softeners) 2. Chemical Sequestering 3. Reverse Osmosis Filtration 4. Distillation
These no salt softeners fall under none of these categories. Further, as a municipal water employee, I received a complaint not too long ago of white spots on dishes and cutlery. I went to site to find my customer had replaced a standard salt type softener with a no salt softener. I tested the water before and after the softener and the water had exactly the same amount of hardness on both sides.
If you are interested in perusing a no salt softener, I encourage you to find a contact list of installations in the area, talk to the owners and see if it actually works. I can tell you with no uncertainty that salt softeners work exactly as intended.
