All these years since 1999 I thought I was getting the best water seeing as it was only H20 and nothing else. I was so proud to not have wasted all those plastic bottles and wished everyone would do the same to simply solve the plastic bottle problem. Now, I've recently been having trouble eliminating and my nutritionist/friend asked me what kind of water I've been drinking and when I told her that I had a Reverse Osmosis system she told me that I may be lacking the important minerals neccessary to help me rid my body of excess water and toxins. AGH! I have been so busy with travel and other business, I haven't had a chance to get in contact with her again and I was wondering if you knew of the minerals that are normally found in tap water or natural spring water that I should NOT be removing and how to safely acquire them again! Or shall I just start buying bottled water?? ugh.
Hi Renee
There's a mix of minerals in tap and bottled spring water. The main ones make up hardness. Hardness is mostly calcium with magnesium, some iron and manganese, and trace others. I'm not a nutritionist but most of these are found in multivitamins as well, so I assume that our bodies need them.
If you have municipally treated tap water, often the biggest complaint is taste and odors caused by disinfectant residual and naturally occurring organics. A good activated carbon filter will take care of this. Visit your local water treatment store to see about this. Many people are surprised by the improvement in taste simply by adding an activated carbon filter to your tap water.
If drinking mineralized water does not solve your issue, I strongly recommend you see a proper health care professional.
I hope that helps.
