Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What exactly is truthofwater.com?
A: Truthofwater.com exists as a free resource to the general public. It exists to provide specific answers to any questions about any aspect of water. It's a resource for people who don't know where else to go, to help point you in the right direction, to ask those questions you just can't find the answers to.
Q: Who answers the questions when they are written in?
A: Currently, there is only one site admin who answers the questions. As the site expands, truthofwater.com will be accepting positions from qualified individuals to participate in question answering.
Q: What exactly makes you the expert, anyways?
A: People marked as experts are few and far between. Einstein was an expert in quantum mechanics, as Beethoven was an expert in musical composition. The word expert should only be bestowed to those truly gifted individuals. I do, however, have expertise in water and water treatment, and do have knowledge above the layperson in this regard. I also have the resources available to research and verify answers.
Q: What kind of expertise do you have?
A: I've spent five years as a technical sales person for water treatment equipment, and currently hold and have held a position for the previous five years working in a municipal water system. As the site grows and additional experts are added to the roster, they will have similar or better credentials.
Q: Your advice is completely opposite of what the salesman at the water treatment store told me. Who's the liar? I'm so confused!
A: The truthofwater.com has only one interest: complete transparency. We have no ulterior motive and stand to make no money by selling you a water softener or R.O. system or whatever it is you are looking at purchasing. Our advice may be very different from the advice of a salesman. Remember, salesmen have only one purpose, and that purpose is to make money. Most salespeople are good people but like anywhere else there's going to be shady characters. Sometimes salesmen also try to pass of wants as needs: just think of the last time you went to purchase a car.
Q: You said above that you guys stand to make no money and have no ulterior motives. Then why are there ads on this site?
A: This website offers a free service but the website itself certainly isn't free. Server space, bandwidth, and etc. all cost me money. The ads are there to try to offset the costs of running the website, and if there is any left over it certainly helps paying the mortgage and feeding the hungry mouths in the household.
Q: Why are you doing this?
A: I spend a lot of time at work answering questions to the general public about water and water quality. The questions are many and the answers are things I take for granted because of my expertise. If there are people with questions in my city, then there are people with questions everywhere else. This website is a hobby for me, but also it's my hopes that I can truly help people with the knowledge I have everywhere.
