How do YOU Conserve Water? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Mike

Experts have many ideas on how to conserve water. But the lists they come up with are by no means exhaustive.  Often, the best and most creative ways are thought up by the general public. With that in mind, I logged onto Yahoo Answers and asked the following question:

Do you take steps to conserve water around the house? Why or why not? If so, do you use any of the ideas in the following article? Are there any other ways that you conserve water?

The answers I got back were interesting and are as follows:

TJ Writes:

Pee in a brita filter, and put it back in the fridge.

PreseaCombatir Writes:

1. Take a shower, not baths
2. Don't flush the toilet
3. Pee on your plants (it actaully helps them grow cuz pee has nitrates that the plants need, which is why fertilaizer is made form animal poop, look it up if you dont believe me) instead of watering them

I can see you! Writes:

I conserve water by only flushing the toilet once a day, before I go to bed.

ambar Writes:

I don't flush. I wait until it piles up and shove it down with a plunger.

dinpashoh Writes:

1- turn off tap when you brush.
2- change the plastic wasser if it drops.
3- no wash your car.
4- in agriculture lining canals.
5- using sprinckler and or drip system for irrigation.
6- drink botteled water.

Harvest rainwater to flush toilets, wash car, and water the landscape.

Ditch the dish washer.

Only wash a full load of clothes.

Never buy bottled water.

Martha Angelica Writes:

Alex Rey Writes:

There are numerous ways of conserving the water.. To name a few:

*By adjusting sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk, or street.

* By Installing covers on pools and spas and check for leaks around your pumps.

*Minimize your garbage disposal. Compost vegetable food waste instead and save gallons every time.

Wang Writes:

are you kidding?

(Editors Note: I'm pretty sure I'm not kidding).

Jerry Lee Writes:

After I take a shower, I turn the water *OFF*!
(There is a lot of water where I live, and it comes free with the rent)
:)

So, how do YOU conserve water, if you do?
